Welcome!

You've reached the project portfolio of Ariela Baranov, artist and graphic designer.
Website is a WIP, so please forgive dead links and wonky HTML - they will be fixed.

Progress is slow. It's a bit hard to motivate myself (especially to do art), but between the help from the medication and working out regularly, hopefully that will change soon. Depression seriously sucks. I've been taking it day by day, but it's difficult at times. I wish there was an ON button for creativity.

Slowly but surely. I think it helps in general to have actual, written/outlined goals. It's a little daunting at first, but it's not like I have to do everything on the list at once. Website-wise, I'm sort of at a standstill. I plan to just focus on other things until I get that "mental shove" to do something more with it. Meanwhile I'll continue to update the project lists as promised.

Been updating the site all day. I haven't touched this thing in years, so it's nice to get back into the hobby again. I've tripped over a new theme - the current red and yellowish one, and I rather like it. It's not as stark as the eye-bleeding lime green of my last layout, and it keeps a sidebar for navigation. The top titlebar image is a photograph I took on the New York City subway train some years ago (no flash + long exposure + shaky train), and I never really used it for anything constructive until now.

I've basically decided to narrow my design focus for the time being, and really just work on one themed website at a time. Namely, this is the section for projects: my 101 Things in 1001 Days project, and the two digital photography projects (which aren't up yet), Project 365 and 100 Snapshots. For now I've linked this as my main index page, but I'll see whether I like it or not in a week or so. My poor untouched photography portfolio, Photographic Evidence, has a very different layout and theme, but I may change that soon...or eliminate it all together in favor of a more "project-y" sort of feel. I might do something similar for my drawing portfolio. I don't like what it looks like right now (it's still on the older lime green layout), and as I haven't kept it up-to-date in the least, it SORELY underrepresents my current artistic ability.

Anyway, for now the current working plan is to 1) finish rounding out this layout and its main connecting pages, and 2) get the two photo projects pages started up. Once that's done, I can set some new immediate website goals.
